Monty Cokerham

Monty & Jenny Cokerham - Associate Pastor at Emmanuel Worship Center - San Antonio

After high school, Monty attended and completed a two year program at Garland Bible College. He began his ministry as a Music Minister in several Southern Baptist churches in Dallas and San Antonio, TX. In 1961, he was called as a teacher. After he received the Baptism of The Holy Spirit in 1973, he then accepted the call of pastor in 1974, after much prayer, Monty obeyed God as He called him to start Marantha Baptist Church in 1976 in San Antonio, TX. In addition to being a pastor, Monty was an active worship leader with the Full Gospel Business Men’s Association. Later he joined the pastoral staff at Covenant Church of San Antonio in which he remained until 1991.

In March of 2000, while seeking direction from God at a lake north of Ft Worth, the Lord told him to “go to San Antonio, to Dan Thompson”. The Lord spoke these words on three consecutive days. After obeying and serving under Dr. Thompson for several months, he became an Associate Pastor in February 2001. The annointing of the Holy Spirit has brought Pastor Monty into a fresh perspective of ministry and opportunities, in addition opening deeper insights to the nature and ways of God.

As 2006 approached, Monty’s wife of 42 years, Carolyn, would be called home to be with The Father. This beautiful union produced two wonderful children, Mike and Deborah, an awesome daughter-in-law and son-in-law as well as six beautiful grandchildren, two boys and four girls.

On August 6, 2007, Pastor Monty was blessed with a wonderful wife, Jenny, in which God brought her to Emmanuel Worship Center in preparation to become Monty’s wife. Blessed is a man who finds a wife, for he finds a good thing. Monty and Jenny love to travel and hike. Together, they continue to minister in leadership, teaching and counseling. This, a true testament of God’s love for us.
