God’s Words Are Life and Health
February 25 – Today meditate on: God’s Words Are Life and Health
Book, Not Foot, in Your Mouth
Joshua 1:1-9, “This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it; for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.”
Hebrews 7:25, “Therefore He is able also to save to the uttermost—completely, perfectly, finally and for all time and eternity—those who come to God through Him, since He is always living to make petition to God and intercede with Him and intervene for them.” Vs. :26 “[Here is] the High Priest [perfectly adapted] to our needs, as was fitting, holy, blameless, unstained by sin, separated from sinners and exalted higher than the heavens.”
Vs. 25 – uttermost means completely, perfectly, finally and for all time and eternity.
Past sins can darken the soul and leave terrible stains but God is able to erase the stains with the blood of Jesus. Jesus’ blood cleanses us from all unrighteousness and makes us “whiter than new fallen snow.” The scars of sin remain, but they need not control us. You remember the event but not the sting from it when the wound is healed. God has “forgiven and forgotten” once for always all sins when we become born again. And from that time onward, each time we ask forgiveness He forgives and cleanses us from all unrighteousness. Read 1 John 1:9. We must learn to truly receive God’s forgiveness, forgive ourselves, and forget the past—things that would continually wound and grieve. Jesus, in Isaiah 53, already carried these away for us. Remember those things (without the hurt and guilt) that help you, guard against slipping back in the future into old ways and let the rest go. There is absolutely nothing you can do about the past. Release the past, nail it to the cross, and march on in victory. (NS)
