God’s Great Love For Me

December 26 – Today meditate on: God’s Great Love For Me

Does God Remember Me?

Luke 2:51, “God wants us to listen to His voice and His voice only. To see the way – but His way only.”

He wants to lead and guide us, but we will not take the time for just Him. The radio is blaring, the TV’s too loud, the kids are screaming, the dog is barking. Where is God in all this confusion? He is there. You just can’t see, nor hear Him in all the noise and confusion. He speaks with a “still small voice.” He is standing there waiting for you to recognize His presence. You have the power to turn the radio and TV off. They do not have to be on. Turning on the TV right after coming through the door is a bad habit we have acquired. Don’t turn it on. It has no power over you, if you don’t allow it to.

The Christian life is a life of discipline. I do not have to allow anything to control me. God says I am to be controlled by the Holy Spirit.

If I can’t even resist the temptation to turn on the TV and just sit there like a blob, how can I resist stronger temptations that the world wants me to succumb to? If I can’t resist the temptation to “stuff my face” how can I become equipped to handle the stronger temptations?

If I can’t say no to smaller things, how can I ever learn the discipline to say no to bigger, more serious things? The devil well knows what he is doing. He comes at us in little sneaky ways. If I can’t say no to overeating, how can I say no to alcohol or drugs?

If I can’t say no to flirting, how can I say no to an affair? If I can’t say no to grumbling and complaining, how can I say no to a bad attitude?

If I can’t say no to feeling sorry for myself, how can I say no to snapping at everyone? If I can’t say no to watching TV, how can I have time to read the Bible? If I can’t say no to my wandering mind, how can I say no to dwelling on wrong thoughts? (NS)
